Mark Nevin / Piano Course / Preparatory Book [Mass Market Paperback] Review

I started piano lessons three and a half months ago.I'm an adult and luckily acquired this book.It was printed in the sixties.My piano teacher really likes _the selection_ of music.So do I.I also like _the instruction._I'm currently learning two pieces from the book.My big question is . . . Where is Book Four?I can't get more complimentary than that.

Yep.Great book.Well scored.

No, it doesn't have guitar tab but I taught mice elf to read music, so I am able to work out the melody lines, intros etc.Quite a few of which are played by Dwight's geetar player.

Well worth it.

Amy Grant - Home for Christmas: P/V/G (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook) [Paperback] Review

The songs are written in the key which Amy sings them and are decently arranged for piano. I was disappointed that the arrangements weren't strictly written for a vocal soloist, as in Amy's original Christmas album book of the 80s, which had some wonderful piano accompaniments. But nonetheless it's a good collection.

I got this for my kids who are currently taking piano lessons.One was learning the Raiders' March and according to her teacher it was easier than the other Raiders March in other books.I like the layout and the notes are easy to read and see.

Kuhlau Selected Sonatinas Bk/Cd Schirmer Performance Editions (Hal Leonard Piano Library: Schirmer Performance Editions) [Paperback] Review

Since I discovered him, I have fallen in love with Kuhlau's music and I really like the Schirmer Performance Editions. They all fit very nicely on the music stand at the piano. A minor problem is that after some use the covers often come undone from the staples holding the books together.

The Simpsons Movie (Piano Solo Songbook) [Paperback] Review

This book is based on the 2007 movie.
Uh hi. Um, for all the parents reading this, I am a parent too. My children are Simpson FANATICS. They watch it everyday on TV. And when they're not showing it, they watch the season box sets. I mean, I try to get them to get away from that stupid thing but they just don't listen. But one day, I was online-shopping on amazon.com. I saw this book online. I told you my children are Simpson fanatics right? Good. Anyway, the ONLY thing they like better than the Simpsons...is the Simpsons Movie. Man, do they like that movie. Everyday, after they finish their homework(I don't let my kids do nothing 'till they finish their homework) they go into the family room and watch that movie. So I bought the book. When the kids saw it-well to make the review short, I had 5 TV-free days. Right now, I'm considering getting more Simpsons books for my kids. Thank you, Amazon!

Included are the exact sheet music used in the songs in the CDs.Another reviewer said that what is contained is different, but please know that that is not true.

David Lanz - East of the Moon (Piano Solo Personality) [Paperback] Review

"East of the Moon" is the companion songbook for David Lanz's Grammy-nominated CD by the same name. Most of that album is very orchestrated, so these transcriptions are not exactly the same as the CD, but they're fun to play and most are not too difficult. The only thing difficult about "The Green Man" is its length - sixteen pages. I didn't have any students at all who wanted to tackle that one! "Dancing With Dionysos" is great fun to play with its spirited tempo and flashy glissandos. "Chasing Aphrodite" is one of the easier pieces and most people really like its simple melody. "East of the Moon" is a great piece to play. It has some moderately challenging passages, but nothing particularly difficult that a little practice won't take care of! "On the Edge of A Dream" was one of the favorites with students. It's slow and quite easy to master in addition to being a very beautiful piece. "World At Peace" is a six-part suite that is very orchestrated on the CD. I didn't find most of the transcriptions to be very satisfying. "The Visitor" is one of my favorite of David Lanz's pieces, and no matter how much I play it, it never fails to transport me to somewhere else. It's also fairly easy, so the main teaching points with it were expression, expression, and expression. Even though I don't usually play all of the music in this book, it is one of my favorites for working with students. And of course, it has that wonderful photo on the cover with the hand sign that David Lanz says means "Buy My Album!" Recommended!
