This wonderful book contains some of the most recognizable melodies of America.The overall melodies of this book are fairly easy, but Keveren provides beautiful accompianiments to each of the songs that provides a fresh new way of exploring the melodies.It would be a great way to show off around those patriotic times of years.The book does contain some challenging parts and would be better for a more experienced player.

Organ Works [Paperback] Review

Although from time to time one reads of an "Andantino in g-minor" being out there, the major organ works of César Franck comprise 12 pieces:6 from 1862 ("Six Pièces pour Grand-Orgue"), 3 from 1878 ("Trois Pièces") and 3 from 1890, his year of death ("Trois Chorals", which are his actual swan-song).Although sometimes he's not the best at sticking to forms (sometimes his improvising got too obviously into his written-down music), overall one can't argue against what's very inspired music of a profound and noble faith one wishes were more in evidence these days.

[These 12 major works are so designated to distinguish them from a number of lesser pieces, many of them collected under the heading "L'Organiste" which are intended mostly for liturgical use and quickly get cloying if played in concert in too great a number.It's these 12 pieces that are regularly found on concert programmes as well as in church usage.]

Interestingly enough, it's often been difficult to get one's hands upon a single-volume issue of these pieces (Kalmus used to issue them in 4 smaller volumes) - until Dover came out with this edition.I cannot recommend it too highly:excellent republication of Durand's first printing thereof - and when I note that a number of errors present in the initial publication (still visible in the Kalmus reprints) are discreetly corrected here, it helps make this edition even more reliable and praiseworthy!

Very strongly recommended for organists, music-lovers generally and notably as a wonderful corrective to today's age of unbelief - hearing (and playing) these works truly is a tonic for the soul![Personally, I wish they had been printed in portrait instead of the landscape format used here;however, I do know that a number of organists like this particular format and so this form has no bearing upon the mark hereby given.]GET IT!!!

Disney on Broadway (Pvg) [Paperback] Review

This book is a good source for everyone willing to attend an audition. You wil find the original and complete Broadway version of some nice songs fro Disney's repertoire...My only complaint is : why didn't they include my favourite song ("I know the truth" from AIDA)?
But anyway I suggest you to buy it!

So what's not to like?

Some young, fresh, earnest Canadian dudes who write simply and cleanly about their experiences growing up.

Canadian cynicism.Reflect on exactly what those words mean or, for that matter, whether they belong together at all.

SCTV?

An extended version of the Weather Channel?

Punk skiing?

You cannot be sad listening to these guys.You cannot hold onto a loss of hope for our race.And, in their engaging way, we have to look at our own assumptions and values.

Likeable, cheerful, and listenable.Lovers in a dangerous time is a cut on this album, and it describes this bunch so well.

I'd buy the album if I had a million dollars, for sure.

Essential Songs - More of the 1950s (Hal Leonard Essential Songs) [Paperback] Review

I felt this book didn't accomplish what the first 1950s book did, which is pretty hard to beat. This book contains a few great hits from the decade, although some songs sound a little off during certain parts, and not this book does not contain as many quality hits and as popular songs as the 1950s, which I recommend over this one, but you still get what you get, over 100 pretty good songs of the decade, which aren't included in the first book, and although some of the songs sound slightly off at parts, its easy to figure out how to fix and make these sound better. Don't buy this however, until you have all the Essential songs, 1920s-whatever decade you choose to end at, then start looking into the more songs, which don't generally offer as many quality songs due to most of them being used up already in the first book, but the more books still do contain a few great songs, especially in the later decades of the series.

Classic Rock - Keyboard Recorded Versions [Paperback] Review

This book is somewhat similar to Hal Leonard's other classic rock keyboard transcription book, but features a few songs not found in the other one. Although the other reviewer for some reason seemed disappointed by finding all the keyboard parts written out, that is actually the beauty of this book. It's not another PVG book full of cheesy piano arrangements. It's the real keyboard parts, and all of them. Guitarists have been enjoying accurate rock transcriptions for years now, so it's great to see the same kind of material being made available for keyboard. Keep 'em coming!
