Pieces for the Musical Clock (Kalmus Edition) [Mass Market Paperback] Review

This is ano-nonsense, budget edition of 5 charming but little-known pieces Beethoven wrote for a friend who had a collection of these mechanized instruments with revolving cylinders.

The cover of this book states "for piano" but these pieces are even better suited for organ or digital keyboard, which would come closer to the sound of the automated instruments they were written for. Played on organ, several are reminiscent of carousel music.

The music is fairly advanced (there is a very long trill in the 3rd Allegro) but fingering is indicated on all but the first page of this edition.
