A Touch of Romance (WB Solo Library) [Paperback] Review

My all-time favorite piano piece to play is Le Salon de Musique by Eugenie Rocherolle, so when I saw a whole book of romantic music by her, I had to have it. These pieces are just want I had hoped they would be. Her ability to mix up chords to hold an eerily enchanting tone is just the signature feel I want in the romantic pieces I so enjoy playing. I took 7 years of actual classical piano lessons and have dappled in it for the last 4 or so years, so I would say for a mid to late intermediate player these pieces are just the right amount of challenging.I could sight-read through them slowly and decide the first time through that Souvenirs de Paris was going to be my favorite piece.Each song is only a few pages long, and they are quite different from one another (I think one of them has a Russian feel) making learning them much more enjoyable than a long strenuous journey toward playing perfection.

This version of the book is the "fake book" version, as opposed to the actual transcriptions in the "from the album" version. While it is a perfectly adequate guide to the general structure of thetunes, the actual chord inversions, lead lines, picking patterns and fills are not even suggested here. The Second Book of Soprano Solos (Vocal Collection) [Paperback] Review

I bought this book with the set of accompaniment cds at a local music store. I used it mainly for my own pleasure, to primarily, "exercise" a classically trained voice that doesn't get much use.Lately I've been using it to practice for auditions for choirs, community operas, etc. Not playing the piano, and not having ready use of someone who does, the discs come quite in handy as it allows me to hear and practice with the actual accompaniment that will be played when I go for the audition.Note: this is accompaniment only.There is no melody line to these recordings, unless they just happen to be part of the original accompaniment. There are no vocal demonstrations either.You will still need to be able to learn the melody on your own. Of course, melody and words are included in the music book. Disney on Broadway (Pvg) [Paperback] Review

This book is a good source for everyone willing to attend an audition. You wil find the original and complete Broadway version of some nice songs fro Disney's repertoire...My only complaint is : why didn't they include my favourite song ("I know the truth" from AIDA)?
But anyway I suggest you to buy it!

Punk skiing?

You cannot be sad listening to these guys.You cannot hold onto a loss of hope for our race.And, in their engaging way, we have to look at our own assumptions and values.

Likeable, cheerful, and listenable.Lovers in a dangerous time is a cut on this album, and it describes this bunch so well.

I'd buy the album if I had a million dollars, for sure.

This is actually Volume 2 (1995), and contains EIGHT (not eighty) transcriptions of Bill Evans piano parts off the recordings. This collection is better than Vol. 1.First, vol. 1 did not transcribe thecomping behind the bass solos.Second, vol. 1 focused on the late Fantasy& early Warner Bros. recordings (1970s), while this collection rangesfrom the first trio on Riverside, some Verve solo and trio sides, and solosides from Fantasy. Gripe: when transcribing trio recordings, is it toomuch to ask that the bass part also be transcribed? I am usually very disappointed with a lot of music books but this one was just great.Apart from including songs that I couldn't find anywhere else (Guess who I saw today? and Mad About the Boy) I found the keys perfect. Although I am a soprano and can easily reach high B, far too many songs these days are published in high key which just doesn't suit the style at all. I have been told that most songs today are written in the male tenor range, I don't know how true this is.I like to sing torch and jazz in my lower register and this book allows for that.I also bought The Best Jazz Standards Ever and am very happy with that too.On another point I really like being able to view the list of contents and excerpt pages before ordering.One small complaint is your shipping costs to Australia - the shipping actually cost me more than both books!

Torch Songs in Sultry Keys: 35 Standards in Low Keys for Women Singers (Vocal Collection) [Paperback] Review

As an alto going on bass, I was always getting in trouble with my voice teacher and accompianist for bringing in songs that were too high, luckily, I found this book.It's wonderful to be able to sing a song that's low enough to be comfortable!

The songs in the book seem to be extremely low, however...a lot of girls will find it difficult to go that low, however, I'd highly reccomend this book for second-altos looking for pieces in low keys.
