A Touch of Romance (WB Solo Library) [Paperback] Review

My all-time favorite piano piece to play is Le Salon de Musique by Eugenie Rocherolle, so when I saw a whole book of romantic music by her, I had to have it. These pieces are just want I had hoped they would be. Her ability to mix up chords to hold an eerily enchanting tone is just the signature feel I want in the romantic pieces I so enjoy playing. I took 7 years of actual classical piano lessons and have dappled in it for the last 4 or so years, so I would say for a mid to late intermediate player these pieces are just the right amount of challenging.I could sight-read through them slowly and decide the first time through that Souvenirs de Paris was going to be my favorite piece. Each song is only a few pages long, and they are quite different from one another (I think one of them has a Russian feel) making learning them much more enjoyable than a long strenuous journey toward playing perfection.

Music for Little Mozarts: Music Discovery Book 1 Review

I'm a music teacher with over 12 years experience teaching young children.I useThe Music For Little Mozart's Series for my youngest students first. To ensure that you have adequate coverage of all the materials presented, make sure you get most of the books in the series. The Lesson Book is a great start, but this is the next most important book.It has Great songs to sing and play along with.Don't worry if you don't sing, your child will, with encouragement, and the help of the CD that comes as a two CD set (the other CD goes with the Lesson Book). These are very important for teaching steady beat and the joy and fun of music, and can "bring them back" to the keyboard when interest wanes. No kid can resist the racing car song with the Glissando's where they run their fingers over the keys after the song says, "Ready, set, go!"

The next most important book is the workbook that gives the student the chance to show off their new skills and has some great listening exercises you can do with them.It is not the coloring book, which is really just a coloring book. Lastly, I recommend also the Recital book.It tells you at the top of the page which page in the Lesson book it corresponds with (they all do), and it gives the student one more song to practice their skills with.

I recommend sitting down with the student for no more than 1/2 hour breaking it up into 5 min. each of review of previous topics, lesson book, recital book, workbook and Music Discovery Book with CD.You can play the CD with the lesson book to review the material on a later date and the CD of the Music Discovery Book at any time while they are playing with their toys or doing "homework" in their workbook.

I like Book 2 set as well, and you can continue through 3&4 or move to Alfred's other Piano books 1A-6 .

Yamaha P65MSB 88-Key Weighted graded hammer action keys, comes with stand and bench Review

The bad part is the price keeps dropping and I paid at fifty dollars more than the current price only two weeks ago.

But the piano is wonderful. It looks bigger than the picture, but the piano works just like a real one, especially the fingers feel right. It is not too heavy, I can easily move it and it does not take much space. Now I play it almost everyday for about half an hour.My piano teacher says this is enough for practice. The sound does not come out as great as really good grand piano.Anyway it is totally worth the price.

Rhapsody in Blue (Original) (Belwin Edition) [Paperback] Review

Simply said, I am using this as the feature of my senior piano performace recital at my college. This brilliant work is something to behold in its concerto form, something to enjoy it its orchestral form, and something that every one should study in its piano solo form.

Gershwin himself wrote this arrangement, so it can be safe to assume that everything in this piece is exactly how Gerswhin wanted it. I would imagine he would best realize what he original thought to be the important parts...

I appreciate what the Kalmus press has done to give helpful footnotes for the ornamentation and the score layout is very clean and spaced well. A good "easy" read, that is relatively easy...if you know the pieces in this book you'll know what I'm talking about!
