I love this book.It not only has the greatest songs in it, but it actually includes the notes for the harmonies!The pages are easy to read and follow, and the songs sound great.I used several songs from the book in my church as choir introits.Its a little lower than on the CD, but still a fantastic book.

The Best Jazz Standards Ever (Easy Piano Songbook) [Paperback] Review

Some of the more popular tunes in this compilation are A night in Tunisia, Satin Doll, Sophisticated Lady and All the things you are. Missing out on classics like Take the A-train in lieu of several rather obscure tunes that aren't exactly Jazz standards, by my measure, is the book's greatest flaw. For the beginning to intermediate jazz student, its a nice book to own. All the songs are full arrangements and not too difficult to play. Advanced pianists will probably be happier with a nice, solid fakebook.

Chopin: Album for the Piano (Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics, Vol. 39) [Paperback] Review

Ever since my first G. Schirmer Chopin Waltz book was stolen, I have been hoping for a good replacement.This 33 song edition is the perfect replacement, with all of the Chopin favorites, edited by Rafael Joseffy, and with much better fingering than some of the other Chopin editions (namely the one edited by one of his former students whose name I forget at the moment).The book is paperback, with the usual yellow cover.
Simply fantastic- unfortunately, Amazon did not have this in stock when I purchased it, so I went through one of Amazon's affiliated A-Z sellers, KKMuzic.KKMuzic delivered the product as promised for a wonderful price, although be forewarned that USPS Media Mail is rather slow.

I've played music for years, and now that I'm retired, I wanted to understand more about what I was playing.I picked up Mark Harrison's Contemporary Music Theory Book level 2 and made my way through it.I was stunned to find that I had been instructed incorrectly on several points.That was one reason I purchased the book.I wanted to clean up some confusion I had with theory. Now I've just finished the level 3 book.Mark Harrison's books are structured with achievable learning steps.His lessons are followed up with exercises after the chapter to reinforce concepts taught in the chapter.The answers follow the exercises.This is greatly appreciated because it gives the reader immediately feedback.The reader can check the answers, and if there was an error made, the reader can go back and correct any misunderstanding before moving on.If you want to learn more about music structure and harmony, these books are an excellent source without having to go through music theory classes.The lessons are clearly written out and understandable.These books provide the reader with skills so they can not only understand the movement and progressions of chords, but be able to substitute chords in any key for harmonies they may want.Mark Harrison is an expert.This is the best set of theory books that I've ever seen.
