The Beatles 1 - Recorded Version Guitar [Paperback] Review

The previous reviews shown here have nothing to do with this book. They appear to be for "The Beatles Paperback Songbook", which does look to be small and not necessarily accurate.
"The Beatles 1 - Recorded Version Guitar" appears to be exactly what it says: transriptions of the recorded versions. My guitar teacher has spent a couple of sessions breaking down "Day Tripper" off of the CD for me. What this professional musician came up with for this song is almost verbatim what is published in this book. So now I have it written out in a form that I can actually read (and correct as needed). It is a full-size (8.5x11) music book and I look forward to working my way through it.

Wonderful book for the musically gifted guitar, piano or organ/keyboard player. Some musical nohow required not for a beginner, if you can read music all the better. definately worth buying.

Paul McCartney/Wings - Band on the Run (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I have been teaching myself the piano for the past year or so, and I bought this book because I really enjoy Paul McCartney's compositions and his style of rock/pop piano.
The standard notation alone in this book does not really match exactly as Paul McCartney plays it on the album, but the chord notations are written above each measure of the music and using a combination of these, one can pretty much imitate what Paul McCartney is doing on the piano.
I would not categorize this book as an easy piano book; I would say that it is on the intermediate level.My favorite songs to play in this book are, "Band on the Run", "Jet", "Bluebird", and "Let Me Roll It".
Since the chords are also shown for each measure, it comes in handy when I play my electric guitar as well. The book also contains quite a few large color and b/w photographs of the band.Overall this is a very good book for the money.I would recommend it for anyone that likes Paul McCartney and Wings or rock/pop piano.

The Beatles For Jazz Piano (Piano Solo Personality) [Paperback] Review

If you are used to the standard arrangements in Beatles Songbooks and want something new this is a good book to try.This is a piano solo book, with chord symbols, no lyrics.The songs are arranged with more extended chords and some substitutions, as compared with the usual arrangements. Not all the songs are in the keys the Beatles played them in. However, the arrangements are complete and you can play them as is.They do not include any written out improvisation; however, you have some fresh chords to improvise over.Some of the songs sound good adding a jazz swing feel others don't.Some of the songs sound a little strange at first with the extended chords but grow on you.This book is at an intermediate level.

This is a great intermediate piano/vocal/guitar book.There's a good selection of songs and they are playable as solos or accompaniments.The book can be a little hard to keep open since the binding isn't sectioned, but other than that, I was happy with it.

I have NO idea what the guy above me is writing about.Certainly not THIS ITEM!In the first place it is published by Alfred, not Hal Leonard, and the thing is NOTHING BUT TAB AND CHORDS!This is as good as it is going to get if you want to play the songs from "Born To Run" on the guitar!

ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I think that the other reviewer was reviewing the wrong book. This book is a book of collections of music sheets that appear in ever popular "ABBA Gold" CD. Considering that all the other individual music sheets are not available, this book is the only source of ABBA songs for the people who wants to play them. This book contains the music sheet quality of scores - piano and chords, as well as lyrics. Not a "easy" version. A true ABBA lover should definitely check this out !
There is another one which is titles as "Great Songs of ABBA", which contains almost all songs of ABBA. Unfortunately, the book is hard to get these days.
