Yanni - In My Time (Piano Solos) [Paperback] Review

This is a must-have for all pianists who love Yanni! Each piece is emotionally moving and ingeniously intricate, though not so intricate as to be impossibly difficult. There are only one or two typos that most people would miss, but they never detract from the integrity of the piece. "In The Morning Light" is exceptionally beautiful, and is not that difficult. "Until The Last Moment" is another excellent piece, although it is the most difficult in the entire book. I could keep on listing my favorites, but that list would include pretty much every song in the book. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

The Complete Gershwin Preludes for Piano (Belwin Edition) [Paperback] Review

George Gershwin was a tremendously popular composer in the 1920's and 30's.He went beyond just writing popular tunes, and tried to branch out into more serious music.Not to say that the songs he wrote aren't masterpieces in their own right.Listen to the Gershwin Songbook as played by Andre Watts, a concert pianist.The Gershwin songbook contains arrangements of songs by the composer himself.Full of melody, charm and rhythm, true American classics.

The Preludes in this edition are more of the same.With a jazzy feel to them, they are very rewarding to play.They feel different under the hand, and remain a great opportunity for the classically trained pianist to expand his technique and ear.

This edition is well printed and easy to read. A fine edition of some very good music.

Narada New Age Piano Sampler 2 (Piano Solo Songbook) [Paperback] Review

I am very happy with my new piano music book.The music is not too difficult to play, yet it is challenging.(I guess I'm the equivalent of a third year student, but I'm pretty much self-taught.)This music is unlike most piano music out there and is very interesting and unusual.And the book came quite soon after it was ordered.(Henry's wife, btw.)

I am hoping that there will be more music books like this available soon.

Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 & Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 (With Orchestral Reduction for Second Piano) [Paperback] Review

The music is fantastic, being the most popular concerto repertoire of Russian origin, but the edition assumes the reader some sort of Russian professional.Right away one notices that there are very few fingeringsnoted, and altogether I have found maybe one editor's note on execution inthe entirety of the two concertos.The edition contains no introduction tothe music, no informative synopsis of any sort, no helpful backgroundhistory on the composer's methods, reasonings or motivation for the musicto aid the interpreter, nothing at all, in fact, but the notes themselves. Not even a photograph of Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky to identify the namewith.This lack of support for the performer is considerably below thestandards of any serious edition.Unless one is well-prepared with someamount of collected knowledge of Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky, and with theexperience of having listened to each of these concertos, the edition willleave you stranded.But, then again, it is great music one must have.

The Selah Songbook (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook) [Paperback] Review

Everything was included in this songbook.From vocals to instrumentals, it was right on the dot, never varying from what one hears on the CD's.The only complaint I have was that it was not spiral bound. Trying to play and turn the page was difficult because the book was bound so tightly.

The Best of Yanni (Piano Solo Personality) [Paperback] Review

I would have to say that is book is very good. Some of the songs are just very good others are not. But overall great. This book is like for level 3 or 4 piano it is less difficult than Yanni's In My Time piano. But In My Time is more piano like with is also more difficult. This book is more for melodic. Most of Yanni's song are left hand are the same not identical but it has the same variation, but of course some part are truely unbelieveable you can play it over and over and never get tired. I would recommend this book thenget the In My Time because it sightly harder. Happy Playing the Piano!!
