Kawai Piano Prices: Rhapsody in Blue: Plus 12 Masterpieces [Paperback] Review

Despite several years of piano lessons during my teens, I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be a virtuoso. However, I almost feel like one when playing the songs in this book, most of which are only moderately difficult and nicely arranged. I bought this book because of the gorgeous cover and was pleased to find that the inside is as gorgeous. Robert Schultz has a knack for selecting music that people actually want to play and hear. Whether the music was composed 300 years ago or 50, it all remains timeless and ethereal. Whenever I imagine a skilled pianist playing in a darkened room, he'd probably be playing songs like these.

By the way, get a different book if you want to play the entire 'Rhapsody in Blue;' this book contains only one portion of the song (the slow part). I have no desire to play the entire song since I don't believe the rest of it could ever sound right with a single piano, so this section is good enough for me. I've lately begun salivating over the other books in the series: Canon in D plus 12 Masterpieces and Eighteenth Variation plus 12 Masterpieces. Together, the three of them probably contain every song I've ever really wanted to play, no kidding.
