Like Randy Newman's music?This book may be for you.It includes lyrics, tab and piano accompaniment, which follow Randy's recorded versions fairly well (at least for the songs on his album with "Sail Away"). For instance, on "Dancing Bear" the arrangement has a vocal line with a piano accompaniment which is pretty much what Randy plays. You can sound just like him if you want, or of course take it somewhere else.The book is at an intermediate level.

Really Big Book of Children's Songs (Big Books of Music) [Paperback] Review

With the exception of a few pieces with a large amount of flats, I found the music easy to play.I don't consider myself great and really read music to play.The binding makes the book hard to keep open and found myself using binder clips to hold the pages.The music is a large size.A few songs were not familiar to my kids such as Popeye the Sailor Man.Overall, I would recommend this book to a friend.

Neil Young: Greatest Hits (Piano/Vocal/Chords) [Paperback] Review

Some of the best Neil Young tunes here-in .....well-made with decent notation to fiddle around with my meager keyboard skills which equals hours of enjoyment.

While true Neil Young fans know his treasure-rich songwriting career encompasses many many fine tunes not in this collection, it's difficult to find much fault in these sixteen beauties. (I am lucky to have purchased both "On the Beach" and "Zuma" songbooks for piano/guitar when available in the 70's)

Greatist Hits starts with "Down by the River"; easy to hear the plaintive cry of lost love. But I also wonder if Neil's choices of chords/melody were a direct or otherwise influence when Pink Floyd's group effort "Breathe" came out a few years later? Inneresting, but as Neil says onstage, "It's all the same song!"

Well, if you like the music of Neil Young, buy this and mess around with the music (whether you can read notes on the music staff or not isn't critcal)to see which chords are played in first position, and which aren't. Listen carefully enough from the "way it sounds" vs.the recordings; then you can consider the songbook purchase a substitute for a few piano lessons and learn to pick out some great tunes.

Progressive Rock Keyboard: Hal Leonard Keyboard Style Series [Paperback] Review

I don't why anyone has'nt written a review for this book yet. Its perfect, and the accompanying CD is so helpful to help learn the rhythms of progressive rock keyboard. I would greatly recommend this book if you are sick of playing yankee doodle or any other book with boring sheet music. Contained in the book is an adequate description of the genre and presents perfect examples that you can learn. I found this book very satisfying and not too hard. I also have the rock keyboard and find that one great as well. So do buy these books.

Music for Little Mozarts [Audiobook, CD] [Audio CD] Review

This is a two CD set each CD is 30 minutes long.The second CD is for the "music discovery book", I love this CD, it is just perfect for group music classes and it is a fun CD for kids to just listen to.There are 25 songs: a hello song (mentions mozart mouse and beethoven bear), a goodbye song (could be used for any program), 8 rhythm instrument songs, 5 movement/music appreciation songs, and 8 listening/ear training songs.

The first CD is essentially a "book on CD" of the "music lesson" book and I don't see why you would ever use it because a teacher could read the story herself much more entertainingly.

Violin Pieces The Whole World Plays Ww 5 [Paperback] Review

I was looking for pieces to play for the reception of my aunt's wedding and this book really came in handy. There's familiar pieces we're played as a child like Bach's Loure and Gossec's Gavotte(for those of you that were brought up in teh Suzuki violin method); but also pieces that practice trills, pizzicato, and double stops. The pieces are arranged in an intermediate level with nothing going above the third position. A great book to bring back the fun of violin playing (and realizing all those scale exercise really do come in handy! ;) )
