Britney Spears -- In the Zone: Piano/Vocal/Chords [Sheet music] Review

It amazes me that such a stiff artist as Britney Spears, could write such meaningful words and music, as she composes half of this marvelous album. What shoscks me more is thaT "In the Zone," an album i did not buy until shortly after recieveing this book for one of my students auditions, is funner to play than to listen to. There are some truely wonderful arrangemnets on here, and the fact is this book is not "Britney Spears." No one can say they hate it for the sole fact that they hate Britney Spears. I am not fan of the Pop princess, but i'll tell you something, the absolutely stunning arrangement of Everytime composed solely by Britney could put you to tears if played properly.
There is nothing i love more than good music, and i never thought i would say it, but Britney, you write some damn good music... It's just too bad that my favorite songs are the ones britney wrote that never went to single (save everytime), and it's too bad Britney will probably never get the credit she so whole heartedly deserves.
Don't hate her cuase she can't write music, hate her cause she is the cuase of all sexual steriotypes.

The Van Halen Keyboard Songbook [Paperback] Review

Missing a few goodies, but otherwise these transcriptions get the job done.Unlike other pop keyboard transcriptions these do not try to include the vocal line as part of the arrangement making them more authentic to the original recorded versions, however, "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" ain't no keyboard song.Would have preferred "Feels So Good".

The Young Pianist, Opus 823, Complete (Alfred Masterwork Edition) [Paperback] Review

I think the other negative review here misses the point. The work is titled "The Young Pianist," and includes simple pieces intended for beginners. I'm an adult trying to improve my sight reading, and I need lots of tuneful material that's easy enough for me to sight read fluently with confidence. I don't want a lot of counterpoint, harmonic complexity, tricky work for the left hand, or anything else that makes the music harder to play. I think this book will take you over time from wherever you are to a point of greater mastery. If you want more challenging material, there's plenty to pick from. If you're in the early stages of your development and want enjoyable music you can play and learn with, I think this is ideal.

I'm in this book virtually every Mass I play. At some point (pre, during, or post) during the liturgy I need a brief piece of fill. Major and minor keys are each represented with pieces ranging from 4 bars to over a page. Also, modulation formulas and extended pieces. All arranged by key. A very handy book that fills both those expected and unexpected gaps in the service.

This is Volume 2 in a 4-Volume set of the songs of Stephen Sondheim.I have all four volumes and, as a pianist, I am grateful to Warner Bros. Publications for making these masterpieces available to the general public.Some of Sondheim's finest inspirations are contained in this volume:
"Good Thing Going", "Take Me To The World," "Not A Day Goes By,"
and "Sunday" from the Act I finale to "Sunday in the Park With George".Also included are some numbers from the obscure, (but very funny) "The Frogs," a 1974 production performed in the Yale University swimming pool, and a dozen other songs.For Sondheim fans, and soloists in particular, this volume and its companions are treasures.

I am satisfied with product. I think that I might have had a little too much expectation from the dvd. I was looking for more instructions from the dvd. I quickly realized that this was a basic introdution to the keyboard. I am enjoying my new venture.
